Right now my house is full of so much stuff that I'm at that place where I'm overwhelmed by it all and don't know where to start. But start I must.nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06605426195521274662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23483482.post-10566344867487460352012-04-22T16:49:52.614-04:002012-04-22T16:49:52.614-04:00Today my husband and I created the organizational ...Today my husband and I created the organizational mantra for our next two years: do we want to pay to ship this to Africa?

Suddenly those things I was keeping "Just in case" seem less valuable.Coraliehttp://lifemoreabundant.menoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23483482.post-6553049843182361482012-04-21T20:39:54.135-04:002012-04-21T20:39:54.135-04:00"Buying more things cannot make my home conta..."Buying more things cannot make my home contain fewer things." I love this, and I need to post it on my desk and stick it in my wallet and maybe write it on my mirror. It feels good to get something new and shiny and pretty, but then the new wears off and it becomes one more thing that needs to be laundered or dusted or put away.

Great post, thank you.Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01787237015552235434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23483482.post-75936358809246865962012-04-21T10:02:09.111-04:002012-04-21T10:02:09.111-04:00Thanks for the motivation as I tackle piles of chi...Thanks for the motivation as I tackle piles of children's toys. I'm terribly sentimental about my kids' old toys. Much more than they are, actually.Recovering Sociopathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08140401230567269045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23483482.post-48048928476263152232012-04-21T01:51:30.242-04:002012-04-21T01:51:30.242-04:00I love how you write, with such clarity and forcef...I love how you write, with such clarity and forcefulness!

Taking that into cleaning out your home will serve you well. I have gotten rid of roomfuls of stuff, and there has only been one item I wished I had kept. Honestly, I can't remember what that one item was now, only that I did have one (momentary!) regret after the fact.

Reading what you have written inspires me to do more. There is ALWAYS more to do, but it gets easier with time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23483482.post-91868017744304227572012-04-20T23:19:49.335-04:002012-04-20T23:19:49.335-04:00My husband and I love to get rid of stuff. Fortuna...My husband and I love to get rid of stuff. Fortunately we also love to GET stuff so we have endless bags and boxes of stuff to toss out the door.

Recently we unloaded hundred and hundreds of cds and books. With cds, if we could not remember the lyrics to one song it went out the door. With books, we got rid of anything we'd not read or referenced in 10 years, were unlikely to read again or would be able to easily check out of the library.

My advice is to never tell a non-resident family member what you are getting rid of. Because they will ALWAYS know someone who might want it, or they will try and guilt you into keeping something or they will suggest some way to repurpose it. I find a firm offer to load the item into their car usually ends the conversation.

Good luck with the Great Purge of 2012.Wrath Of Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12493475195269575941noreply@blogger.com
